Kenneth “Ken” Edward Crockett, 84, of Arden, died Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Hamblen Co., TN, he was the son of the late Charles “Charlie” and Pearl Collins Crockett. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, LaCrecia Shepard, a sister, Lelia Warner and a brother, Bob Crockett.
Ken was retired from Alliance Plastics. He then began working at Walmart (on Airport Road) as a door greeter for 17 years.
Ken Crockett: husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, brother, a believer, a child of God! But, best known as “Papaw”.
Papaw, a man of few words, a man of honor, an anchor, a calm place to stay in a storm, your best ally in a battle, a best friend, a father, a grandfather a great grandfather and a husband.
For 84 years and 11 months you walked this earth, you gave us advice, hope, encouragement, help, and most of all love. While you had your own way of showing it, not by the world’s ” I love you “, but by your actions and support. You touched so many lives, and you are remembered in such a special way by many people.
Papaw, a fisherman, a sports fan, especially basketball, baseball, and NASCAR racing. He loved to watch his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. Always one of their biggest fans!
Over the past few months, we watched someone we have always known to be so strong begin to grow weaker, and it was one of the hardest things we have ever had to witness. While your body grew weaker your love for your wife and family grew stronger- sharing laughter, stories and hugs even to your last moments of life.
Life on this earth will never be the same without you. For the people you touched, we are forever grateful for the years we had with you!
You are already greatly missed!
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jessie Glenna Gorman Crockett; two daughters, Glenna Toney (Greg) of Asheville and Kimala Snowden (Rob) of Swannanoa; one sister, Dorthy Ware of Jefferson City, TN; two brothers, Hal Crockett and James Crockett, both of Morristown, TN; four grandchildren, Sheldon Shepard, Luke Toney (Kayla), Tessa Shepard (Jonathan) and Grayson Toney (Layla); five great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Arghiere, Blakely Thurman, Steel Toney, Gemma Toney and Lana Toney as well as several nieces and nephews.

Beautiful Obituary Tessa . Papaw we miss you but I know you are with Cre .
Bobbie and I had the privilege of knowing Ken from Skyland Baptist. He was a quiet man , but loved his Lord, his family and his church family. I also would stop and speak to him during his years at Walmart as a greeter. Prayers of comfort to all the family.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Worked with Ken for years at Alliance, hard worker and very dependable. He will be missed.
