Kila Boydston Waldrop, 34, of Candler, died Thursday, February 26, 2009.
A native of Buncombe Co., Kila was a daughter of Diane Young Boydston, of Candler, and Michael Boydston and wife Angie, of Candler.
Kila was a 1992 graduate of Enka High School and worked as a cosmetologist. Kila was a member of Hominy Baptist Church.
Kila is preceded in death by her grandfather, Tom Boydston; great-grandmother, Addie Wise; first cousin, Jason Case, and cousin, Bradley Davis.
In addition to her parents, Kila is survived by her husband, Andy Waldrop; a son, Dustin Waldrop, of the home; a sister, Kara Boydston and fiancé Chris Pegg; a brother, Michael Boydston and wife Tonya; step-sister, Amanda Armstrong and husband Owen; grandparents, Troy and Carolyn Young, and Shirley and C.L. Barnes; and beloved in-laws, Tony, Betty Ann, Michael, Josey, Avery, and Emma Waldrop.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dr. Joe Yelton and Charlie Sams officiating. Kila's family will receive friends following the service.
Kila was a breast cancer survivor and an avid supporter of breast cancer research and funding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Chest for Women, Breast Cancer, 100 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC 28806.

I will remember Kila as a beautiful free spirit in our Y & B support group, always a warrior in pink. Kila was beautiful no matter what color the hair or if there was none at all. Kila could tell a story and always make you laugh. Dustin, she always had pictures of you on her phone or in one of her scrapbooks and shared them with us. The sparkle in her eyes when she talked about you always showed the overflowing of love in her heart for you. Hold on to that love.

Diane, I was so sorry to hear about Kila. I can truly say I know what you are going through. We lost Kelly last Dec.and there is nothing worse than losing a child. I can remember little Kila. That smile was so contigous. She could out talk the best…but put her all in everything she did. She use to call me and ask me if I was ready for another hair cut. She would laugh and say ‘ I really just wanted to come hang out.’ But she was diffently one of a kind and I loved her so much. Please let me know if I can do anything for you and the family. Ten thousand words can never express my sorrow at Kila’s passing. I was truely shocked and so sadden. I remember our times at each others homes with our kids in tow. Watching them grow up with all the tears and laughs. I so remember Kila growing into that beautiful young woman. Seeing her get married, her being pregnant with her son and her becoming so much like her Mom. That smile that laugh that Kila Boydston. For you Miss Diane, to lose a child, I cannot imagine. Loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend – with her sweet spirit she reached out to so many. She is cradled in the arms of Jesus now, healed and at peace. She loved her family so very much. Her courageous battle with cancer inspired many. She had an infectious smile and laugh. My children LOVED Ms. Kila. She taught each one of them to kneeboard as well as many other friends – old and young – to love the sport, boating and the lake. She loved life the most when she was behind a boat on wakeboards, kneeboards or skis.
I love you Kila and will miss you terribly, my beautiful friend, but thank you for so many memories to have always.

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for Andy and Dustin. I first met Kila about 10 or so yrs ago. Kila has always brought a smile to the faces of many. Through good times and bad she has always made people smile. God bless you Dustin and may the Angels above guide you through life unscathed by hardship and turmoil.

Kila was an inspiration to all who knew her….that is undeniable. She would light up a room with her smile and beautifulness. Then when she spoke to you, you could feel her strength and courage with her every word. I will truly miss my friend.

Hold onto the memories, and with everyday that passes she will be with you. A woman could not of asked for a better husband or son, hold onto each other and know you are both so loved. Kila brought much joy to our breast cancer group.Each month, she and I rode together to the meetings and caught up on the troubles that we each faced but she always had something funny to say, followed by her giggly laugh.
