Laura Rogers Herren, 91, of 310 Dogwood Road, died Thursday, March 9, 2000 in a local hospital.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Etta Clark Rogers and wife of the late J. Sherman Herren, who died in 1983. She was a retired employee of the American Enka Corp. with 26 years of service and was a member of the Pisgah View Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mrs. Herren is survived by two daughters, Rev. Faye Penland of Greer, SC, Vera Tow of Asheville; a son, James E. Herren and his wife Anna of Candler; sister, Georgia Pressley of Candler; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue conducted by the Revs. Betty Drake and James Donati. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home on Patton Avenue.
