Laura Wallace Ashton, 82, a lifelong resident of Asheville, died Sunday, March 10, 2002.
Mrs. Ashton was a daughter of the late Cannie and
Emory Wallace and was married to the late Edwin Ashton. She was a former waitress at Buck’s Restaurant and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Foster Memorial Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was an escort volunteer at the VA
Hospital.
She was a loving wife and mother and is survived by four daughters, Sherry Ashton of the home, Dottie Stelzer, Edna Hill and Joy Page, all of Asheville; one sister, Louise Lipe of Fletcher; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Erin Miller
officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
