Lawrence Hubert Sutton, 82, of Candler, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at his residence. A native of Haywood Co., he was a son of the late Carl G. and Zona Jenkins Sutton. He is also preceded in death by his wife Lucy Geneva Hunter Sutton. He owned and operated his own tobacco farm. Surviving are his four daughters, Elizabeth “Anne” Brocklesby of Candler, Brenda Norman and husband George of Fletcher, Robin Denning and husband Carlton of Candler and Sandra Gragg and husband Mark of Swannanoa; two brothers, Roy Sutton and wife Sarah of Clyde and Robert Sutton and wife Louise of Candler; two sisters, Mary Ann Price and husband Medford of Palacious, TX and Genevieve Overman of Waynesville; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
