Legie Barrett Dillard, 90, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, in Gainesville, FL.
Mrs. Dillard was born in Canton and was a daughter of the late Lon Rankin and Mary Mae Morgan Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Barrett and Carl Dillard and by two sons Jerome Litty Barrett and Carroll Lon Barrett.
She is survived by her son, James E. “Ernie” Barrett and his wife Charlotte Dorsey Barrett of High Springs, FL; two sisters, Daisy Reed and Asalee Ashe; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will be at Hominy Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

I am sorry that you had to deal with the loss of grandma. I hope to see you on Friday, I hate that I didn’t get to visit her and you all. I feel like I’ve missed a lot of life by not knowing her the way that some of the other grandchildren did. But I can hang on to my memories of her. I hope we can have a future sharing in each other’s lives from now on.
