Asheville Butterfly TrailHe was born in Bay City, Michigan. In prior years, he lived in Jackson, Michigan, where he retired from Walker Mfg. Co., and was also a resident of Tee Lake, Michigan. His most recent residence was with his son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Monica, in Arden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leone Holmes Matthews, who died in 1989; a brother, Loren Matthews and one grandson, Christopher Leo Matthews.
He is survived by a son, Jack Matthews; four grandchildren: Tim, Mark, Brian and Julie and six great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Memorial donations may be made to a ''Habitat for Humanity'' chapter of the donor's choice.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

Many fond memories of the time I spent in Lewiston. Even though they (your parents)are gone, great childhood memoies will never be forgotten.
