Leota Elizabeth Burnette, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
Leota was the daughter of Fred D. and Thena Brown Ballard. She was born in Transylvania County and was self-employed. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Chuck Burnette, brother, James Daniel Ballard and sister, Fredrice Manning.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Wanda Clemmons of Black Mountain; granddaughter, Rose Moore and her husband, Jim; 3 great grandchildren, Michael, Jessica and Brandon; 2 brothers, Joseph Earl Ballard and Fred David Ballard both of Asheville; 3 sisters, Juanita Moeller of Candler, Betty Blankenship and Martha Warren and her husband William all of Asheville.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel in Black Mountain with burial to follow. Rev. Randy Stone will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 P.M. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road.
Donations may be made to the family to help with funeral costs.
