Leslie J. Shipman of Cisco Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Shipman was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Leslie and Lula Mae Logan Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Shipman, who died March 19, 2001. She was retired from the Asheville VA Medical Center.
She is survived by a nephew Russell Shipman and his wife Shannon; nieces Michelle Reynolds and Sharon Lipe; great nephews Brandon and Hayden Shipman; aunt and uncle Millard and Virginia Coffey; sisters-in-law Gwen Marshbanks and Peggy Souther.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Glen Weaver officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Sorry we couldn’t be there for the funeral but we will be on our way to Kansas for a family reunion. You have our sincere condolences.
I am so sorry for your lost. SHe often spoke of her nephew as her son, and while I worked with her at the VA I also grew up in Haw Creek where family still live. Leslie Mae will be missed by many who knew her kind and sharing nature.

To her family and friends- we shared many happy times with Leslie & Charles, camping with the Mountain Boomers Travel club. She was always ‘ a happy camper’. My love and prayers are with you.
