Lila King Woody, 93, died Thursday, October 17, 2002, in an Asheville nursing center. Mrs. Woody was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Norvil and Alzura King. She was also preceded in death by her husbands Robert Woody in 1948 and Clyde Gallion in 1973, by her son, Bobby Woody in 2001, and by six brothers and three sisters. She was retired from Enka and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara W. Wright of Asheville; three grandchildren, J.C. Wright, Sharon Woody, and Bob Woody, Jr.; one great-granddaughter Kristie Wright Dodd; one great-grandson Jacob Wright; three sisters, Mamie Sluder and Lily Tomlinson of Asheville and Flossie Worley of Candler; and one brother Leonard King of Leicester. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert E. Harris and Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at Jones Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of J.C. Wright, 147 Wendover Road, Asheville.
