Arden - Lois A. Smith, of 240 St. John’s Street, died Monday, May 15, 2000 in a local health care facility.

A native of Barnwell, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Rufus Randolph and Alda Oppie Sauls Moore. Mrs. Smith was a member of Arden First Baptist Church and had worked as an administrative assistant for several government and private agencies.

She is survived by her husband, Walter E. Smith; two daughters, Julia Smith Dezarov of Columbia, SC, Suzanne Smith Watson of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Lorraine Pesa of Miami, Fla.; bother, E.T. Moore, Sr. of Barnwell, S.C.; two grandchildren, Alexander M. Watson and Elizabeth Watson and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 pm Thursday at the Seven Pines Baptist Church in Snelling, SC under the direction of the Mole Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Barnwell City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3 Louisiana Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of local arrangements.
