Lola Mae Layman

Lola Mae Layman, 91, of 3864 Sweeten Creek Road, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 24, 2001 in a local health care facility.

A native of Cocke County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Weldon and Mollie Gregory Moore. She was also predeceased by her husband, Bruce Layman, who died in 1974.

Mrs. Layman was a charter member of the Long Shoals Baptist Church, and was a lunchroom worker with the old Valley Springs Elementary School for 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Beulah Taylor and her husband, Robert of Arden; Virginia Fisher and her husband, Carl of Asheville; one son, Furman Layman and his wife, Pamela of Prospect, Virginia; one sister, Glennie Arrowood and her husband Rex of Asheville; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Roger Rearden and Reverend Stephen Summers officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted but memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Long Shoals Baptist Church, 661 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC 28704.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.
