Lottie Jackson Clark
Asheville - Lottie Souther Jackson Clark, 86, of 100 Wesley Drive, Apt. 610, Givens Estates, died Sunday, August 3, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a daughter to the late Ella Jay Wilkie and James Zebulon Souther of the Hoopers Creek Community. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Zoro Millender Jackson; sisters, Alice Garren and Pauline Garren and brothers, Joseph Souther, Wilkie Souther, Cecil Souther and Kelly Souther.
Surviving Mrs. Clark are her husband, Albert M. Clark of the home; a sister, Rhoda Holt of Fletcher; a son, Terry M. Jackson, Sr., and his wife Carolyn, of Grover, NC; a daughter, Jaye J. Lytle, and her husband, Jim, of Asheville and step-daughters, Carol Fife, and her husband Richard, of Miramar, Florida, Lorraine Cochrane of Jacksonville, Florida and Jean Banks, and her husband John of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sharon Jackson of Shelby, NC, Pamela Oughton of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Terry Jackson, Jr. of Grover, NC, George Lytle of Weaverville and Kimberly Morelock of Weaverville; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished.
Mrs. Clark was a Valedictorian graduate of Fletcher High School and Cecil’s Business College. She as a 60 year member of Biltmore United Methodist Church, where she had served as Superintendent of the Children’s Sunday School, President of the Women’s Society, on the board of the Council of Ministries, on the Administrative Board, sang in the choir and was awarded many certificates for attendance. She was a 20 year member of the Buncombe County Extension Homemaker’s Club and served as chairperson for the Elderly Neighbor Community Program.
Mrs. Clark retired from the Biltmore Dairy Farms in 1985 after 26 years of service as the Farm Secretary, where her many duties included naming prize winning cattle.
Services are scheduled to be held at Biltmore United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 6, at 2:30 pm conducted by the Rev. Ashley Crowder Stanley. Interment will be in the Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was very special to us, and we will always treasure the friendship we shared throughout the years.

We will miss Lottie – she was my Grandpa’s special companion and always very sweet to me and my family anytime we visited. My thoughts are with all of Lottie’s family.
