Mr. Kraus was born November 12, 1922, in Baltimore, Maryland to Louis Philip Kraus and Catherine Sebour Kraus.
He was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Cornell University and was a veteran of World War II. After a 41-year career with Western Electric, the manufacturing arm of AT&T, he retired to Brevard where he was active in First United Methodist Church and Kiwanis. Upon moving to Asheville he became a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Husson Kraus; a daughter, and her husband, Lucien and Catherine Kraus Bouabre of Columbia, SC, and Abidjan, Corte d' Ivoire, West Africia; two sons and their wives, John and Martha Kraus of Underwood, Washington, and Paul and Claudia Kraus and grandchildren Sabrina and Adrian of Commugny, Switzerland; two sisters, Regina Kraus Irvin of Catorisville, Maryland and Carolyn Kraus Lang of Glen Arm, Maryland.
There will be a memorial service at 4:30 pm Wednesday, July 12th, at the Thomas Coke Chapel in Asbury Hall at Givens Estates. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
