Mack Sams, 87, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at his home in Candler.
Mr. Sams was married to Ruth Wilson Sams, who died in 2010, and is survived by his daughter, Dr. Lynn Luce and her husband, Burt; a son, Stan Sams and his wife, Janice; and grandchildren, Lydia Luce, Preston Luce and Meagan Sams.
He was an Army veteran of WWII and retired after 37 years with the US Postal Service Distribution Center. He was a wonderful grandfather and an excellent gardener.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph T. Tarpley, Sr., officiating. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 277 Oak Hill Road, Candler, NC 28715.

Jeff and I will always treasure memories of Pop and his dry, quick wit. We are sorry for the family’s loss of such a kind and unique father and grandfather.

Lynn I am so sorry for your loss. I use to be married to Jack Sams in case you did not remember me. I always thought alot of your dad. He was one of a kind. I miss the Sams Family. I guess everyone is gone now. Take Care and remember all the good times with your Dad. God Bless You All….
