Madison RaeAnn Storie

September 14, 2012 ~ June 24, 2013
Resided in:
Dyess AFB, TX
Madison RaeAnn Storie was given to us on September 14th, 2012. 7 pounds, 5 ounces, 21 inches long, 100% special. After nine months of waiting we were finally told "It's a Madison" and so our "Storie" began.
At three days old we took her to the Emergency Room in Abliene, TX, the same hospital where she was born. She was then flown to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX where it was discovered that she had a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) and would need surgery. Two heart surgeries, a colon surgery, several infections and MANY miracles later, we were told she would need a heart transplant. We were then sent to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston. There, she underwent a third heart surgery. She was then placed on the transplant list.
After four and a half months of waiting, our day had come and Madison had heart transplantation surgery June 23rd, 2013. However, it was declared unsuccessful and she was placed on life support. After discussing the option of another heart transplant, her Daddy and I decided that Madison had "fought the good fight" and Jesus was calling her home. We gave her back to Him June 24th, 2013.
Madison, a girl of many names: "McBean," "Stinky Beans," "Maddie," "Peanut," and "Sweet Girl," the list goes on and on. However, the name that I think fits her best is "Warrior." Despite having only half a heart, Madison was unstoppable. She wrote her own book of rules, defying every odd and obstacle stacked against her. That is why our decision to let her go was such a difficult one. I am convinced she would have fought her whole life long but we chose peace instead.
Madison is survived by her parents, Matthew Greg Storie and Amanda Michelle Storie; great-grandmother, Evie Hoffman; grandparents, Kimberly Rae Lasarsky, Dennis Ray Lasarsky, and Wayne Storie. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Jill Ann Storie.
Private family interment will be Friday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
A celebration of Madison's life for friends and family is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Hendersonville, with the Rev. Dr. Ryan Pack officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Children's Heart Foundation (http://www.childrensheartfoundation.org/); or to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (https://donate.rmhc.org/).
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
I am so sorry to hear about baby Madison. I followed her story from day one and grew to be one of her biggest cheerleaders. She was a warrior and will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. May she rest easy.
You changed all of our lives in so many ways, you will be loved and missed by us all. We Love you

I love the ‘Stinky Beans’ reference. I catch myself talking to my little patients and every once in a while that slips out. We miss you guys and I am so sorry for all you have gone through. God bless.
There are few words that can heal your broken heart but I must agree your daughter was a warrior but so are you. I admire your courage in the decision you had to make in thinking not of yourself but that of your daughter. The Bible offers a beautiful promise in Isaiah 11:6-9 and 65:20-25. Both of these accounts mention children and will cause your heart to rejoice. Take care dear ones.
Amanda & Matt – We are so sorry to hear about baby Madison she fought a hard fight but The Lord has other plans for this angel… Our thoughts and prayers are with your family thru this difficult time..Knowing that your mother and Madison are smiling down on you both bad will be your angels forever!!! Love Kim & Darryl Pike

2 Timothy 4:7. Praying for y’all during this difficult time.
We were all touched by Madison here at Cisco Systems. Matt’s brother CJ kept us all up to date on Madison’s status and we prayed along with others thru this journey. May she now rest and feel no pain…

Thank you for sharing Madison’s journey. She was truly an inspiration. I loved her willingness to smile no matter what! She was truly a warrior but even a warrior needs to rest some times.. I pray you as amazing parents find peace and comfort in this journey you have given Madison a life of love. Her mile stones brought smiles to all of us watching her learn to sit, first taste, reaching for toys experiencing all her little life had to offer. As a parent im not sure i have the right words to express how sorry im am. I do wish you both hearts full of love and memories of your amazing little girl. Peace, prayers and blessings. In her 9 months she touch a lot of lives and left us all blessed to have been able to share it with her.. love you Madison. Diana (cousins of Jason and Kristen Remine)

Madison, I did not take the opportunity to meet you in person. However, your mom and dad made me feel as if I did. I am thankful that your parents love The Lord and that they gave you the gift of being born into a life of eternal salvation. God bless you Madison and thank you for smiling at us in your pictures.
Matt and Amanda,
I don’t think it is possible to convey to you what Maddie and the two of you mean to me. I was called at home and told about Maddie. All I can think about is kissing those fat little feet and having her smile that adorable little smile with her teeth shining through!! No child has marked me the way she has and she (and the two of you) will forever be in my heart. I will be praying for Maddie and for you that you can find some peace in knowing your daughter touched so many lives in such a positive way. I love you both! Dani
I work with your Aunt Sharon ~ the Lord has a new angel in heaven with Him. I know she will be sorely missed, but she was your little blessing during the time you had with her. May the Lord comfort you in your time of sorrow & bless you with sweet memories. Let Him be your comfort~ With much sympathy.
Though your precious, precious baby girl has joined the angels in Heaven and we’re all heartbroken, we’re also thankful for her blessings on all our lives. Matt and Amanda and the rest of the family, you have been the strongest, most faithful examples of grace and dignity and strength in God’s love that I have ever experienced. What a powerful example for all of us. May God bless you all extra-specially as you continue on life’s road, a different road perhaps than the one you’d planned, but a better one because of precious Madison. Love and Prayers and know that you are loved and in our thoughts and our prayers!
Farewell words were spoken, little time to say good-bye. She was gone before you knew it and only God knows why.
Your heart still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow, what it meant to lose her, no one will ever know.
You thought that you would miss her so, and never find your way.
And then you heard the angel say ‘she’s with you every day.’
‘The sun, the moon, the wind, the stars, will forever be around,
reminding you of the love you shared, and the peace she’s finally found.’

Some day you will read in the papers, ‘D. L. Moody of East Northfield is dead.’ Don’t you believe a word of it!
‘At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now;
I shall have gone up higher, that is all,
out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal —
a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint;
a body fashioned like unto His glorious body.’
Rev. Dwight L. Moody

My heart is saddened for your loss. A parent should never have to go through what y’all have endured for these past months. But be confronted that Madison is with God and will watch over you till you are once again joined with her in His Kingdom. We are all thinking and praying for you.
