Marcella Jane Sawinski, 90, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 surrounded by her family. Marcella was born on March 20, 1922 in St. Paul, MN. She married the love of her life, Robert F. Sawinski, on May 9, 1942. Marcella dedicated her life to her husband and children. Marcella and Robert would stun the masses on any dance floor with their beautiful dancing. They raised five children: Robert (Louisa) of Hawaii, Marcella Jane Nuckolls (Jim) of Alabama, Judy Ludwig (David) of Utah, Jodelle Schuhrke (Jerry) of Illinois, and Jill Calfee (Joe Sharpe) of Leicester which led to 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Marcella loved their dog Bailey who always knew when she needed some tender care. Marcella was preceded in death by her mother and father, Erva and George Cameron, sister Catherine Kenney, and brother George Cameron. Visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday at The Basilica of St. Lawrence at 1:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial Mass at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marcella's name to Memory Care 100 Far Horizon Lane, Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  7. Bob, Jill, and Tiffany, I am so sorry for your loss. I have been your neighbor for many years, and I can never remember seeing Marcie when she didn’t have that beautiful smile. She could lift your spirit just by being in her presence. She was a lovely woman, and is in heaven now, dancing with the angels.
