Mareta Carrier Morgan

mareta morgan
Mareta Carrier Morgan, 89, of Bent Creek Ranch Road, Asheville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Lillian Carrier. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward Lee Morgan. Mrs. Morgan was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. She worked as a paralegal for Richard B. Ford for many years, and was well known for her lively spirit and ever-present sense of humor. The only thing she asked to be remembered for was that she "raised four wonderful children." We would like to say that we were raised by the most wonderful mother God could provide. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Green; daughters Carol Tyndall and Marsha Henson; sons Steve Morgan (late wife Susan), and John Morgan (Debi); grandchildren Matthew Henson (Stefanie), Morgan Tyndall, Leanne Downing (Jeremy), Evan Morgan, John Michael Henson, and Stefanie Burnette (Brett). She had three great grandchildren: Liam Henson, and MacKensie and Morgan Burnette. Her family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Joe E. Yelton officiating. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the home of John and Debi Morgan after the service. Special thanks are extended to the wonderful people at CarePartners Hospice – Dr. John Langlois, Nan Needs, Lynn Knighten, Courtney Booth, and Karen Smith. Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the Hominy Baptist Building Fund, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

  10. I was honored to present a white dove release at the graveside service that was held for Mareta on Saturday. Some of you may have noticed that a dove disappeared following the release presentation. I would like for the friends & family who may have witnessed this to know that I found the bird injured and she is showing signs of making a miraculous recovery. I gave her the name Mareta in honor of your loved one. Thank you for inviting us to be part of your ceremony. I hope that the release brought some comfort and peace to you.
