Margaret Kennerly Patton, of 450 Mountain Top Dr., Asheboro, formerly of Asheville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Asheboro at Hospice of Randolph County.
She was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of Samuel L. and Ollie Bridges Kennerly. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Samuel Robert Patton. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Beulah Broyles, Sue Howell, Evelyn Robinson; and three brothers, Ray, Gay and Carl Kennerly.
She graduated from Leicester High School and Cecil's Business College. She served as secretary of the West Asheville Presbyterian Church and later worked at the American Red Cross of Asheville. She was active in the Rhododendron Civitan Club, Women of the Church, and served as a deacon of the West Asheville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki Moss and husband, Jay Councilman, of Asheboro, Pam Demos of Asheville; five grandchildren, Jennifer Parrish of Asheboro, Christi Demos of Asheville, Nick Demos and wife Jenny of Cullowhee, Allison Dameron and husband, Tim, of Greenville, NC, and Tim Moss and his financee, Emily Hieronymus, of Wrightsville Beach; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition she is survived by sister, Ruth K. Robinson of Leicester; sister-in-law, Evelyn Patton of Asheville; and several special nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of her life is scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, July 10 at First Presbyterian Church of Swannanoa. Officiating will be Dr. Benjamin Sloan. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
