Margaret Mehaffey Owenby, 71, of 11-A Heather Way, Candler, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Owenby was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Etta Franklin Mehaffey. Margaret and her husband owned and operated Harry’s Body and Fender Service, Inc. She served as Vice-President/Treasurer until her retirement in 1997. She was an active member and officer in the B.P.O. Does for many years and through her love, care, and hard work successfully helped many charities that gave so much happiness to families in need. She cherished spending time with her loving family and many many friends. She attended Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert A. Owenby; one daughter and son-in-law Darlene Owenby and Paul A. Robichaud of Albemarle; two grandsons Alex Andrew Robichaud and Bryan Paul Robichaud; and one sister and brother-in-law Dorothy M. Lamb and Robert H. Lamb of Candler. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 67, Candler, NC 28715.
