MARIE PHILLIPS
Fletcher, NC~ Marie Phillips left an indelible mark – and a continuing force of inspiration – on our world when she left to join the angels Monday, October 29, 2012 prior to the "storm of the century" (Hurricane Sandy). Her journey revealed a courage and strength that was an example for all to witness. She left those behind with a life more meaningful by her example. Her generosity, sense of humor, love for her family and friends lives on in those she has left for now. She enjoyed every day of her long life, always looking for the positive in everything and confronting life's challenges with grace. Always an advocate of keeping fit she encouraged other seniors to remain active in their "golden years."
Born to the late Joseph and Mae Dishaw Morrissey November 4, 1916 in Rochester, New York, she lived the early part of her life in the Finger Lakes region prior to moving to the Fletcher area in 1974 with her marriage to Ward Phillips. We will all miss Aunt Marie so much. She always found the positive of everything and in everyone she ever met. All of us who knew her and loved her were truly blessed.
My thoughts are with you– as are your other Golden Oaks neighbors.
It was an honor knowing Marie and Ward. She was an inspiration to all of us. She showed me how to do Palates on her front lawn at 92, I couldn’t even touch my toes… She is an ICON on Golden Oaks Ln. She is singing with the Angels now. Gods Blessing on all of her family. Rick and Deborah
Marie was a neighborhood inspiration, always busy caring for her yard and staying active in her advanced years despite her limited vision. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Aunt Marie really lived life to the fullest and we hope to cherish life the way she did. We have a feeling that she is currently getting into trouble with Grandma M. She will always be forever in our hearts. God Bless you Aunt Marie, you are going to be so missed.
What an appropriate description of Marie in her obit. We will certainly remember her as funloving & selfless in nature although we have not seen her in many years. Thinking fondly of those she left behind.
I met and came to know and appreciate Marie by being at Camp Dogwood summertime weeks with her — and Nora this year.
I am sure her family’s precious memories are now heart treasures.
With sympathy–
‘The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.’
