MARLEN W. PRESSLEY
Marlen W. Pressley, 86, of
143 Milk Sick Cove Road, Candler,
died Monday, April 19, 2004, at the
VA Medical Center.
Mr. Pressley was born in
Haywood County and was a son of
the late Walter and Alma Harrell
Pressley. He was married to Ruth
Fletcher Pressley who died October 2,
2002.
He served in the US Army
during WW II and was retired from
American Enka after 32 years of
service. He was a member of Pole
Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two
daughters, Carolyn Sams of Oakley
and Edith Clement of Candler; one
son Paul W. Pressley of Asheville;
one sister Ethel McElreath of Taylors,
SC; brothers Onley Pressley of
Candler, And Calvin “Bill” Pressley of
Asheville; seven grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
held at 4:00 PM Wednesday at the
Pole Creek Baptist Church with the
Reverends John T. Tiller and Dennis
L. Thurman officiating. Burial will be
at Snow Hill United Methodist Church
Cemetery, Military rites by the
Buncombe Veterans Council
Memorial Team.
His family will receive
friends Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 PM
at Groce Funeral Home on Patton
Avenue.
