Martha Harmon Evans

Martha Harmon Evans, 70, of Charleston, SC, formerly of Asheville, died Monday, July 16, 2001 in a Charleston nursing facility. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Mary Fortune Harmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Blanton D. Evans who died in 1998 and two brothers, Thomas E. Harmon and Raymond O. Harmon. Mrs. Evans retired as a Registered Nurse from the VA Medical Center with 31 years of service and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Buckner of Goose Creek, SC and two grandchildren, Morgan Brittany Buckner and Corey Evan Buckner. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 223 Hillside St., Asheville, NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
