ASHEVILLE � Martha Sue Lopez, 79, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
Mrs. Lopez was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Cecil and June Stone Owensby. She was married to the late Al Vassey.
Surviving are a son, Bobby Vassey and his wife, Theresa, daughters, Betty Potter and Debbie Waltman; a brother, Bobby Owensby; ten grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Lomax officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 � 12:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

Grandmas come and grandmas goes and now just like every grand child who has lost there grandma knows, now i know
she was a great mother and a verry great grandma who was loveing and careing and allways had a smilleing face though thick and thin we will all miss her verry much 🙁

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of Aunt Martha. I remember fun times at her apt when Susie,Cathy and I spent the night with her. Especially when she tied to teach us how to jitterbug and her laughter at our antics. God Bless you at this time and help you thru the grieving process.
