Marvin Ellison Worley, 46, of Leicester, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Mr. Worley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was an EMT and firefighter for many years, and was the manager of Gossett’s Grocery and Deli.

Surviving are his wife, Kelly Gossett Worley; mother, Jewel King Worley; and son, Jonathon Worley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Edwin Worley, on August 23, 2021, and by his brother, Timothy Worley.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton and Rev. Chad Ellege officiating. The service will be livestreamed at tbc.live.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

  8. I wasn’t close with Ellison but he and his wife, Kelly were frequent customers of ours at FRS Asheville. Whether it be for 2 minutes or 15 minutes, it was always a nice, fun, funny conversation with him. I’m so sorry for your loss and wish all his loved ones strength in this tough time. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you.

  15. I am so very thankful how Ellison, Kelly and Jonathan has treated my son like family. Ellison meant the world to Tyler. Im so deeply sorry Kelly and Jonathan for the loss of a great man.
