Marvin Howard Bagwell, Sr., 95, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Bagwell was a son of the late Wilton Horace and Helen Lou Watkins Bagwell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Anderson Bagwell.
He served as aerial engineer gunner on a B-24 bomber with the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WW II, and retired from American Enka where he was Supervisor and Shift Engineer of the Power House.
Mr. Bagwell was a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 9939, and the Hominy Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Diane Bagwell; son, Marvin Howard Bagwell, Jr.; grandchildren, Joffrey (Patricia) and Micah; and great-granddaughters, Carly, Sadie, and Jordan.
A funeral service for Mr. Bagwell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
