Marvin M. Mullinax, 86, of 223 Brickyard Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at the Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Mullinax was born in Alexander and was a son of the late Columbus and Nevada Sheppard Mullinax. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Mullinax who died in 1954, six sisters Clurcy Cushing, Carlie Cole, Carrie Parker, Kathleen Edwards, Cora Webb, and Juanita Bates, and two brothers, John and Calvin Mullinax.
He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a member of Emma United Methodist Church. He was a route salesman with Sealtest Dairies and was retired from Waldensian Bakeries.
Surviving are his wife, Iva Marie Knight Mullinax; two daughters, Carolyn Craft and Joyce Cicero of Orlando, FL; one son, Harold M. Mullinax of Brevard; two step-sons Larry E. Ledford and Bruce M. Ledford, both of Asheville; two sisters, Mavoureen Sexton of Fairview and Ruth Lundgren of Canton, OH; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and by his former wife and mother of his three children, Mary E. Mullinax.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bev Colombo and Dan Stephenson officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813, or to Emma United Methodist Church, PO Box 6921, Asheville, NC 28816.
