She was the most wonderful Mom and Mamaw any of us could have ever hoped to have.
Special gratitude is due to Mary Ann's many neighbors, friends and church family who have been so supportive over the years. The family would also like to extend deep appreciation to the staff of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek and the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.

To the Elingburg Family,
I was sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Mary Ann. She is now finally ‘Home’ with Uncle Raymond, and my Mother her sister Jean E. Rhodes. They are together with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Aunt Mary Ann meant so much to me growing up. She was good at giving me advice, she was loving, like a second Mother to me, and most of all she was a fantastic cook just as my mother was. I will celebrate her life and her death, because she and Mom will not suffer anymore. I will miss you ‘sweet lady.’ Thank you for the wonderful years I got to spend with you. I will always love you and hold you close to my heart and I will see you soon.
Love,
Denise

Dear grieving family,
My wife and I are very sorry for your tremendous loss and would like to express our condolences to the entire family. We cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this most difficult time.
When we lose someone we love so dearly we are left with a very strong desire to see that person again. It’s wonderful to know that God has promised we will see our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 gives this wonderful reassurance: ‘Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.’ What a marvelous hope!
Once again we wish to express our condolences to the family. And although we cannot erase the pain and sorrow you are feeling, it is our hope that this can give you a small measure of comfort.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May God be very near to all of you.
Sorry we cannot be there with you.

Dear Elingburg friends and family,
With deepest sympathy, I am sadden to hear about your mother, grandmother and friend. In the coming days, I will be praying for all of you to receive comfort from our Heavenly Father.
While visiting my grandmother, she talks about how so many of the precious neighbors have passed on. God blessed us with many fond memories in this friendly small town neighborhood located in Skyland. Lots of basketball and softball memories played in your yard. I loved to go over and shoot basketball after school with many others from the neighborhood. Mrs. Elingburg would chat with us while she was resting in her swinging chair or hanging out the clothes on the clothesline. The Howard family often spoke of how much fun everyone had with your family. Mr. & Mrs. Elingburg are now reunited and we are very grateful to have known them and their children.
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Elingburg Cousins and Family,
Mary Ann and Raymond were special people to me growing up. Good memories of Mary Ann when visiting her at home, and seeing her at Church. Raymond was Dad’s nephew; yet, Raymond was older. I always felt that was a unique-special situation. Raymond gave me my first haircut in their kitchen. Mary Ann let Rick and I play with the maze of athletic equipment kept ready in the big box on the back porch. Depending on the season… any equipment needed was available. Good memories. Mary Ann always had a smile for me and an interest in what I was doing. She was a special person in my life. Good memories and thinking of you all.

Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of Mrs. Elingburg. When I was little, (known by Cricket), my mom would deliver Avon to her when I was 5 and 6 years old. She would also have snacks for me and things to play with. I loved going to her home and getting her hugs. We spent many years going to the ballgames and watching the boys play. She was truly the mom role model for all of us to follow. Prayers and love to all of you.
