Mary Frances Scharff Anders

Mary Frances Scharff Anders, 102, of Mechanicsville, VA, formerly of Asheville, passed away March 24, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Sallie Cole Scharff and the widow of R. Glenn Anders. She is survived by five nieces, Charlotte Scharff (Lin Heath), Nancy Clark (Glenn), Ruth Yong (Sam), Jana Monahan (Larry) and Mara Lovejoy (Greg); and by three nephews, Ed Scharff (Cheryl), Ric Scharff and Randy Scharff; and a host of great-nieces and nephews. Mary Frances was a retired federal employee and was most proud of her service during World War II as secretary to the draft board in Western North Carolina. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Asheville and was affiliated with New Hanover Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville since 2002. A family visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Green Hills Cemetery, in Asheville. The family requests no flowers.
