Mary Frances Kilgo Tibbs, 85, of 139 Arthur Road, Malvern Hills, Asheville, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Blue Ridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Mrs. Tibbs was preceded in death by her parents W.A. and Cora McAfee Kilgo, her husband, Clyde A. Tibbs, sisters, Julia Melton and Anne Kilgo, brothers, Douglas and James Kilgo and infant brother, William Orr Kilgo.
Mrs. Tibbs was a retired nurse, having trained at the old Mission Hospital. She worked as a public health nurse in Richmond, VA and Greensboro, NC. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps in France during WW II and for many years at the VA Hospital in Oteen, NC and Coral Gables, FL.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are nieces, Judy Melton and Sherry Thrailkill of Columbia, SC, Brenda Andersen of Roxboro, NC and Debby Park of Atlanta; nephews Marty Kilgo of California and Doug Kilgo of Hendersonville; sister-in-law Sue Kilgo Echols an dear friend Charlotte White, both of Asheville.
No services are planned.
Memorials may be made to the Fuel Assistance Fund of Trinity United Methodist Church, 587 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
Francis was a dear friend to me and I Loved her. My condolences goes out to Sue,and the niece that lives in S.C.

I worked with Mrs. Tibbs when I was a new R.N. at the V.A. in Asheville many years ago. She was so good to me. We kept in touch yearly with a Christmas card & news.
