Mary Howell Morgan Roberts, 87, of Candler, went home to be with the Lord, October 5, 2011. A native of Buncombe Co., she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph James "Bud" Morgan in December, 1974; her son Randall Ralph Morgan, in October, 1993; and her niece Linda Dockery Burleson in August, 2007. Mrs. Roberts was an active member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for the 1st and 2nd grades for 50 + years. She is survived by her step-daughters Loretta Wilson and Mary Etta Johnson; niece Leslea Burleson Gass; nephews Jim Burleson and David Burleson; 11 extended grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

  3. We were very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She was a wonderful loving person. She truly loved her church and her Lord. She will be greatly missed here on earth but has been welcomed with open arms and angels singing in Heaven. Anyone that knew Mary was truly blessed.

  5. Our condolences go out to Mrs. Robert’s family. She was a wonderful neighbor! We will miss her visits and hearing about her trips with the Christian Tours. She was an amazing lady who loved all the children. Robbie will never forget the goodie bags she would bring him on all occasions! She was such a strong woman. She push-mowed her giant yard well into her eighties! Mary will be missed by many!!
