Mary W. Nesbitt Fairview ~ Mary Josephine Whitaker Nesbitt, 54, of Fairview passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at her home. A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of Maybelle Moore Whitaker of Swannanoa and the late Joseph Martin Whitaker. Mrs. Nesbitt was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jasper Nesbitt Sr., who died in 2007 and a brother, Bob Whitaker. In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons; Samuel Jr. and his wife Brooke of Maryville, TN; Matthew and his wife Amanda of Fairview and Adam of Fairview; three grandchildren that she loved dearly; Natalie Nesbitt, Phoenix Jarvis and Lincoln Nesbitt; three sisters, Corean Stevens of Fairview, Charlie Strickland of Swannanoa and Sharon Holbert of Tampa, Fl. and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Nesbitt's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robert Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care Partners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

    Her smiling face was ever present, even though she had so much pain in her life.

  5. I remember the night before she died we were having a good ole time cuttin up and makin jokes. It was uncle rick, adam, matt, melinda, and me. i think it was a surprise that she passed…. in my memoreies i love her with all my heart and i miss her..

  8. Words can’t say what a beautiful loving and caring person Mary is. I was so very priviledged to know Mary. I hope and pray her son’s honor her by doing well and making her proud. We’ve lost and amazing person, she was taken way too soon. Few loses are this painful.
