Mary Merrell Bobo of Fairview, NC passed away on September 3, 2017, five days before her 94th birthday. She was born on September 8, 1923 and was the youngest child of the late John Baxter and Minnie Morgan Merrell because she arrived 15 minutes after her twin sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John T. Bobo, brothers, John B. Merrell, Jr. and Elwood A. Merrell; sister, Adelaide M. Lytle; twin sister, Martha M. Lytle; and sons-in-law, Joseph D. Wright and John M. Ramsey. She demonstrated her love of people in every facet of her life. She was a beautician for over 50 years and owned a beauty shop with her twin sister in Asheville. Mary was also a tireless worker in her church. She belonged to Fairview Sharon United Methodist Church where she was a charter member. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, sang in the choir, and held many administrative positions over the years. She loved covered dish dinners and would clean the church when others could not. Mary was a very supportive parent and encouraged her daughters to always do their best. She was a lover of the out-of-doors and preferred gardening and mowing to chores which would keep her inside and was an avid fan of Carolina basketball. Mary is survived by two daughters, Helen B. Wright of Fairvew and Mary Ann Fieffer and husband Bill of Weaverville; granddaughters, Anita M. Ramsey of Avondale, CO and Beverly K. Ramsey of Weaverville; grandson, J. Morgan Ramsey III and his wife, Rebecca of Madison, WI; great-grandson, Reeves Ramsey of Weaverville; 3 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Bobo will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Sharon United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Glenda Hayner, Ed Worley and Glenda Bramlet officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen R., Flat Rock, NC 28731, or to a charity of one's choice.

  8. My Sister, Linda Demille and I just Heard about the death of my Aunt Mary, whom I never met but talked to her on the phone and wrote letters to her. I will always regret not meeting her. She looks so much like my Sister Linda, Brother, John and my Father John. I know I would love her. I do any way.
