Mary Ruth Conder Sneed

Mary Ruth Conder Sneed, formerly of 41 Chiles Ave., Asheville, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Pardee Care Center, in Flat Rock. A Buncombe Co. native, Mrs. Sneed was daughter of the late Frank Lewis and Maude Carolina Dillon Conder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Max Arthur “Bud” Sneed, and a brother, Bill Frank Conder. Mrs. Sneed was an executive secretary for the American Enka plant for 47 years, before retiring in 1980. She was also a longtime member of the Hominy Valley Council, division of United Way. Mrs. Sneed is survived by a daughter, Shelley Melinda Sneed, M.D., and her husband David Landers, of Asheville, NC; a step-son, Max Arthur “Buddy” Sneed, Jr. and his wife Brenda, of Marion; and two step-granddaughters, Colleen Sneed of Black Mountain, and S. Allison Landers of Apex. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Willingham officiating. No formal visitation is planned.
