Matha H. Howard

Matha Honeycutt Howard, 87, of Old Fort Rd., Fairview, died Friday, June 25, 1999 at her residence. A native of Stanley County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah Honeycutt. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Pete A. Howard who died in 1995, and a son Kenneth Howard. For many years she was devoted to her late husband and his ministerial works. She is survived by two daughters, Duvvy Raynor and her husband John of Gastonia and Audrey Glover of Fairview; two sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Linda Howard and Delmar and Ruby Howard, all of Fairview; a daughter-in-law, Modean Howard; a brother, Brazille Honeycutt; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday at Biltmore Church of God where she was a member. The Reverend Daniel Allen will officiate with burial following in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends 2:30 until 4:00 pm Sunday at the Church. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of arrangements.
