Mermon M. Payne, 87, of 166 Moody Ave., Candler, died on Monday, September 24, 2007, at St. Joseph?s Campus Mission Hospitals.
A native of Madison Co., Mr. Payne was a son of the late Richard and Arey Bradburn Payne. He was retired from WNC Pallet Co.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Frisbee Payne; daughter, Brenda Shoff and husband Eddie, of Fairview; sister, Ruby June Wallin, of Marshall; brother, Ruben Payne, also of Marshall; and three grandchildren, Candace, Lily, and Michael.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Children's Home, in Greenville, SC, Source of Light Ministries, or to one's favorite charity.
