  7. Dear Marcia and Family ;
    Our hearts are broken for you-Mike was the epitome of a younger version of the old Southern cool gentleman. An honor to know and I can say that he spoke of you often during our conversations here at Allstate. I’ve been here over 22 years so LOTS of conversations about vehicles, accidents, young drivers (yikes!) Rate Increases…and Mike was always just wonderful-even if he didnt like what he heard he was always kind about it-And Appreciative for the info. And when I lost my husband in 2015 he showed true compassion-We show that back to you now -Please let us at Allstate know what we can do….It’s our honor to assist.

  9. I started cleaning for ASB in 95’. I was 15 & have to got to see the absolute best & complete worst in folks cleaning around them. When Mike started working for ASB he was just one of them people that you knew right off you’d click with (few & far between). So grounded, happy, laid back, down to earth, had time to stop say hay, good since of humor, & so full of knowledge about pretty much everything. He loved his music & would often bring in different Instruments to show off. He was such a proud daddy & his family. Of all the employees that I have encountered over my 26 years of cleaning Mike is the only one employee that acknowledged the work we did and thanked us daily for what we did. Mike loved talking to & telling my little nephew story’s & showing funny things he found on the computer during the day when we came in to work. He also let Brayden sit & rev the motor up on his car which he loved. I swear he would stay overtime/late just to hang out with Brayden. Brayden loved him. He was truly genuine. He always recognized the low man on the totem pole & for that I’m grateful. I will truly miss Mike, his story, his laughter, & his kindness. My God be with you & your family during the hard days ahead.

  10. Mike was an amazing man. So talented and loving. We are so proud to have been able to call him our friend. Love you

  11. I lost a treasure of a friend this past week, my good friend Mike Mills. I met him because I taught his son Alex Mills (I think from 2003-2006). He was a guitar major in college and was an incredible musician. We hired him to play for many of the musicals at Cane Creek. Later he played in the rock band Bryon and I started – Red Tape Reduction. We played a lot of gigs and made a lot of good memories. Beyond this, he was simply a good man who inspired us all to be better musicians. Timothy Wesley and Bradley called him Uncle Buttah! Because not only could he play guitar like a beast, he could work on a guitar as a technician and make it play like “buttah”. He was a Sinfonian, dear friend, and enriched our lives. Everyone should listen to him play Blackbird on our old facebook page for RTR: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063941173178
    Mike you will be missed brother. My family and I will never forget you.

  12. Gone from my life but never from my heart. You will always be with me through your wonderful music little brother. Marcia, Chris & Alex hold warm memories in your heart and know that I am here for you always.

  13. Marcia,
    I am so very saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. Even though I never met you, I feel that I know you through the many conversations that Mike and I had over the years. He spoke of you and the boys often. A few years ago he played at my youngest son’s wedding rehearsal dinner and left a lasting positive impression on all who attended. He was a really good and dedicated employee and a great friend. He will be greatly missed.

  14. Michael was my friend of about 22 years. He may have been the most genuine and selfless person I’ve ever known. A rare massive talent, dedicated family man, and formidable performer in a brutally honest and delicately caring package. One of the best.
    I will miss Mike more than I can ever explain. I am better for my time with Mike. Thank you buddy!

  15. Mike was such a friendly and awesome guy! We are so blessed to be able to call him a neighbor and friend. We will think of him often, especially when cutting the grass! Our hearts go out to Marcia, Chris and Alex.

  16. Michael, you will be so missed by so very many of us here at First Bank. You were a mentor to me, I learned so much from you. I still have a word of advice from you on my desk. You were not only a wonderful co-worker, but a special friend. I am praying for your family, and praying for you. Rest in peace my special friend, the headaches are gone now, and you have eternal peace.

  17. I lost a dear brother and my heart is crying. Millz became a friend and fraternity brother in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Ball State. We traveled the world together with the Ball State University Singers and later with the Morningstar show band. A founding member of the Quaffing Quad, we had many adventures together through the years and more than a few beers. While the four of us were fraternity brothers we grew to become more like actual brothers. I treasure my time with Mike and the music we created together. He was a gifted musician and a truly great friend. To say I’ll miss him seems small. There’s a hole in my life that won’t be filled. Rest well and start a band with Fred.

  18. Marcia, I was very saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. I had just reached out to him a few days before to let him know that I was thinking of him and asked if there was anything he needed. When I heard the news, I was totally shocked. Mike and worked together for many years at Asheville Savings and most recently at First Bank. He loved his family and proudly talked of you, Alex and Chris. He was wonderful man, great friend, and very talented musician. He will be missed.
