Michael James Hills Fletcher – Michael James Hills, 52, of Bob Barnwell Rd., Fletcher, died on Thursday, May 13, 2010. A native of N. Fond du Lac, WI, Mr. Hills was a son of Nancy Roloff Hills and of the late James Emanuel Hills. Mr. Hills worked for the United States Postal Service and enjoyed golfing, fishing, old cars, family get-togethers and spending time with friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 17 years of service, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. In addition to his mother, Mr. Hills is survived by his daughter, Christina Thaxton and her husband, Ryan; sons, Jon Hills, and Joe Hills and his wife, Millie; sisters, Kathleen M. Crowder and husband Jim, and Terri J. Schulze and husband Dan; brothers, Gary Hills and wife Sue, and Jeffrey Hills and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Cadence Thaxton, Isabella Thaxton, and Tyler A. Hills, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Living Savior Lutheran Church with the Pastor John Qualmann officiating. His family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, May 21 at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Living Savior Lutheran Church, 301 Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  5. I worked with Mike at the Asheville plant. He always spoke to me and was very kind and friendly to all who worked with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his children and family.

  7. I was very upset to learn of Mike’s passing. Mike and I worked together for over 4 years and were very good friends as well as fellow Air Force retirees. My prayer are with each and everyone of you. May God’s blessings be with you all.

  8. I met Mr. Hills a few times hanging out at Tina’s, and while working at Best Buy. He was always friendly and generous. May he rest in peace.

  10. I met Mike and his daughter Tina about three years ago through Applebee’s. He was one of the nicest people I had ever met and I enjoyed talking with him. I am so sorry for your loss.
