Michael James Kearney, 56, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2018. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Vincent Kearney, Sr., and mother, Therese Kearney. Michael grew up in East Point Georgia and was a graduate of University of Georgia. He is survived by his loving family, his brother & sister-in-law, Gene and Connie Kearney, Smyrna, GA; nephew, Nicholas Kearney, and niece, Megan Kearney, both of Smyrna. He also leaves behind many friends across the country who loved and will sorely miss him. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood St, Asheville, NC 28801.

We at St. Anthony’s Dining Room, here in the City of Saint Francis (California) were privileged to have Michael alongside us, leading and inspiring us, and taking great delight in putting out a really good meal for our poor and homeless neighbors. I choose to believe that he is already busy at work, perhaps alongside Francis and Clare, preparing and serving the Heavenly Banquet.
