  3. Jerry Soesbee
Mike and I were friends throughout our entire childhood. Mike and Tammy lived across the street on Yale avenue until we went our separate ways in the early 80‘s. Yale street as we called it, provided the perfect childhood atmosphere. I would bump into Mike time to time at the Asheville Speedway, and when I was delivering for Blue Ridge News Co. There’s too many memory’s to share here, but one that sticks out most was playing records during the 70’s. Mike and I both loved music. We would buy records together and play them all day. Then there was the days of the Corvette, lots of fun their. Ben and Gaynell were my second parents, I think of them regularly. Tammy I’m so sorry for your lose, I’ll be praying for ya. God Bless Jerry Soesbee

  4. So sorry for your loss. Tammy, Russell and I had a great time growing up with you and your family and still talk of all of you often. You are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything we can do let us know.

  5. Austin and Sarah,
I have so many great memories of your dad. He and your mom always added so much fun to my parents’ get togethers. They brought youth to a group of ‘old folks’. I remember his pride and joy in finding out that each of you were ‘on your way’. You both were his everything, and always will be. May God be your comfort and refuge in this extremely sad time. Love and prayers to both of you, your mom and family.

  6. Austin & Sarah I am so very sorry for your loss. I still here and I can remember your dad yelling for both of you and so many others at karate tournament. I pray you find comfort in the upcoming days, weeks, months, and years to pass. If either of you need anything please let me know.

  7. Austin & Sarah, Sissy, Taylor and myself are so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Mike prior to Taylor and Sarah playing sports together but we always found each other at any of the events you girls were participating in and we loved to shoot the breeze, laugh and brag on our girls. Sarah your dad was always so proud of you and if any parent ever truly glowed when talking about their child it was your Dad! He had an amazing personality and he will truly be missed. Trust in God and although we don’t always understand why he takes our loved ones at such a young age but just know that you will see your Dad again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
    Steven, Sissy and Taylor Brooks

  12. Austin and Sarah, I worked with your dad for 27 years at UPS. I agree with everyone talking about how proud he was of both of you. Playing ball and doing your karate, he was always bragging on you. Tammy, I feel like I know you too, we spent a lot of times talking about Charleston since we both had that in common. And of course, as all folks our age we reminisce about growing up. I know how close you were growing up… He was proud of his sister. I hope you all can feel Gods love for you and lean on his huge shoulders through this. It’s okay to be angry, he can take it. And lean on all of us that loved Mike…. A call to Hendersonville UPS will get you help anytime.

  13. Ricky, Wanda, And Trevor Parton
Sarah, Austin and Tammy, We are devastated to hear of Mikes passing. Please take comfort in knowing how much he loved you all. I can’t think of anyone more proud of his family. From the first minute I met him some years ago at a karate tournament in Hickory we became friends. Soon after we were playing golf and hanging out talking about our kids. He took up with my long time friends with ease, but that was just the kind of guy he was. ( One of a kind ) Trust in God that you will be with him again one day. I know he will be so Proud. I Love You Guys and will keep you in my Prayers. May he rest in peace.

  14. I got to know Mike through him delivering UPS to Wal-Mart in Hendersonville. He always had a smile on his face and in every conversation we had he talked about the two of you and how happy he was of you both.. He will be greatly missed. We are so sorry for you loss. May the Lord comfort you during this time of sorrow.

  15. To the Johnson family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy, in the loss of Mr. Johnson.

The Bible repeatedly speaks about the elimination of death, and God’s
promise of everlasting life. – Isaiah 25:8; Titus 1:2. That promise of
everlasting life, together with the promise of the resurrection, where you and your
family will have the opportunity to be reunited with Mr. Absher, in a world
free from sickness, death, violence and crime, is a comfort beyond compare. ‒
    John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:15; Psalm 37: 10, 11, 29.
    Again my deepest sympathy,

  16. To the Johnson Family –
Words cannot express how very sorry I am for the loss of such a wonderful person. It has been a few years since I have seen Mike but we lived in the same neighborhood growing up in West Asheville and we graduated together in 1980. I will always remember that beautiful smile and the last time that I did speak with him, I joked about winding up with the same last name. Peace be with you and your family.

  17. Dear Tammy and children,
I am so sorry for your loss. The world has truly lost a great person! Our hearts are broken and there is a hole there where Mike was. But I thank God we have our memories to look back on and smile. I’ve had many a good time with Mike and you and your family over the years. Chuck also sends his condolences, he and Mike played ball for years together. Mike will be sorely missed by those whose life he touched! I pray God will give you all the comfort, peace and strength during this most difficult time. If you need me for anything, you know how to get in touch with me. I love you darlin’!

  21. My first impression of Mike was WOW, what a neat guy! His amazing smile lit up the room! My close friend and neighbor Tammy has spoken so highly of her brother and how much she loved him, it only took a brief time before I too had made a new friend. I loved watching the interaction between Tammy and Mike, truly loving brother and sister. Mike’s jovial personality, warm heart and love of his family define wonderful characteristics in a person. Austin and Sarah, ALWAYS know how much your dad adores you, I can tell you that when I was with him, he made it very clear her adored the both of you!

May you hearts always be blessed with cherished memories and know your brother/dad is always with you. Warm Hugs!

  22. Big brother, i miss you everyday. You are my protector and best friend. I talk to you every night on my way home from the hospital and always ask ‘ why you’. God had a plan, im abiding by that. I love you more than words can say, i miss you more than words can imagine to convey. I said goodbye to Dixie for both of us. ❤️
