Mildred B. Brooks

Born in Ravensford, NC she was a daughter of the late Eli and Kate Gass Blankenship. Before moving to Candler, Mrs. Brooks lived in Whittier, NC. She attended Western Carolina University and worked at American Enka and Brooks Grocery. She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brooks, and two brothers, Horace and James Blankenship.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Brooks Plemmons and her husband Frank of Charlotte; a son, Lynn Brooks and his wife Alla of Lawrenceville, GA; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Wise of Candler; four grandchildren, Jana Plemmons Griggs and her husband Eddie of Hendersonville, Jeffrey Plemmons and his wife Kathy of Gastonia, Tammy Brooks Hightower and her husband Brian of Monticello, GA, and Marc Brooks of Lawrenceville, GA; two great-grandchildren, Kirby Plemmons of Gastonia and Avery Griggs of Hendersonville; nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
