Mildred Teresa Hellyer

Mildred Teresa Hellyer, 88, of Asheville, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the CarePartners Solace Center. Born in Astoria, New York City to the late William and Anna Klecak Hellyer, she was a custom dress maker and a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, George Hellyer (George Wagner) of Asheville and John Hellyer (Margaret) of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Daniel, Adam and Melissa; five great grandchildren; nephews, Richard Gastauer and William Walenta; and niece, Carol Jones. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Daniel Hellyer; siblings, Richard Walenta, Florence Gastauer, Edward Walenta and William Walenta. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a service at 8:00 p.m., at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Rev. David Eck will officiate.
