Murray Lamar Radcliff, 88, of Asheville, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Murray Isaiah Radcliff and Dessie Lee Duyck Radcliff. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Louise Buckner; brothers Charles and William Radcliff; sisters Louise King and Barbara Grooms; and step-son Foy Lanning.
Mr. Radcliff was a WWII Veteran. He was an honorary member of the Land of the Sky Bass Club.
Mr. Radcliff is survived by his wife, Clara Ann Bishop Radcliff; son Bobby Seay and wife Janet of Newport, TN; step-sons Alvin Lanning and wife Teresa of Orlando, FL, and Jesse Lanning and wife Donna of Fletcher, NC; step-daughter Amy Davis of Fletcher, NC; daughter-in-law Gail Lanning; brothers James Radcliff and wife Esta, and Johnny Radcliff, all of Asheville; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Mr. Alvin Lanning officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the John F. Keever Solace Center and CarePartners Hospice for their excellent care and support, and also appreciation to all the friends and family who have provided food along with their love and support.
