Myrtle Frances Brown Wells, 67, of 630 Piney Knob Rd., Marshall, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mrs. Wells, a native of Buncombe County, was a daughter of the late Denver T. Brown and Flossie Edwards Brown Walker, and was a step-daughter of the late Omer Walker. She was a former employee at Vanderbilt Shirt Company and retired from Mills Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Grover Wells; two daughters: Loretta Pounders and husband, Mike, of Asheville, and Deborah Roberts and husband, Brian, of Leicester; four sons: Bruce Wells and wife, Sandy, Richard Wells and wife, Tricia, Keith Wells and wife, Wendy, all of Leicester, and Tim Wells and wife, Tracy, of Wisconsin; grandchildren: Bridgett Wells, Gary Pounders, Josh Pounders, Ashley Wells, Terry Brown, Jr., Daniel Brown, Crystal Brown, Andy Berry, Travis Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Zeb Stewart and wife, Vicki, Heidi Stewart, and Denise Lanning; great-grandchildren: Jani and Christopher; three sisters: Irene Rice and husband, Paul, June York and husband, Willard and Vera Keith and husband, Jack; two brothers: Bill Brown and wife, Gracie, and Bobby Brown and wife, Margaret. Mrs. Wells will be remembered as a devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, and interment will follow at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The services will be officiated by the Revs. Ricky Townsend and Johnny Bruce Marler. Her family will receive friends one hour before the service.

  2. What a special lady and wonderful friend Ms. Myrtle was to our family! Our deepest sympathy lies with all of the family. It seems I can almost hear she and Ms Joy Davis, side by side now as they were at Turkey Creek church, singing alto and praising their Lord. What a reunion that must have been!
