Myrtle Lee Ammons, 93, of Royal Pines, departed this life for her heavenly home on May 19, 2023.

She was born in Madison County to the late Bessie and Roy Brackens. Later moving to the Asheville area, she was the owner of Ammons Agency, a well-known real estate company in the Arden area. She had lived in Royal Pines since 1965. In the 1950’s she began her work career as a piece rate production seamstress for Kellwood Company in Asheville. In the 1960’s she moved into sales for World Book Encyclopedia, progressing in the organization to top producer and district manager. Then in the 1970’s, she began her real estate career.

She was a member of the Arden Baptist Church, and until her retirement, numerous professional organizations.

Myrtle Lee is survived by her daughter, Sandra Crisp of Fletcher, a sister, Zelma Boles of Asheville, five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Trantham, and five brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
