Nancy Jane Wilkins Jones

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the unexpected death of our beloved sister, aunt, friend, and devoted Saint of God, Nancy Jane Wilkins Jones. She passed away where she was most comfortable – at her home in Asheville, NC, on Monday, September 30, 2024.

Nancy was born in Norman County, Ada, Minnesota, on Tuesday, September 9, 1945, to Alfred Henry Wilkins, Sr. and Goldie Blair McDonald. Her stepfather for many years was John McDonald, who was very instrumental in her life. She graduated from Indian Lake High School in 1963. Afterwards, she completed the Cosmetology program from Lima Cosmetology School.

Nancy met and corresponded with Army Staff Sergeant Burton B. Jones and they were married July 28, 1970. They had 38 years together along with Daisy, their beloved dog. Due to Burt’s military service, they relocated to many different locations, including Germany, Texas, and South Carolina.

Nancy is survived by her sisters Sally Wilkins and Virginia Hunt, and her nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Alfred Wilkins, Sr., Goldie Blair McDonald, stepfather, John McDonald, and her younger brother, Alfred Wilkins, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burton B Jones. She lost her loyal canine companion, Princess Millie Ann Jones on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Millie was by her side until the end. Nancy will be missed dearly by her church family, her family, and friends.

Due to Hurricane Helene, a private graveside service took place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Pisgah View Memorial Park, Candler, NC. Bro Bryant Owen of The Church of God, 107 State Street, will officiated the service, assisted by Bro WC Godfrey.

A public memorial service will be held at a future date.
