Nancy Joann McKinney, 94, of 71 Thompson Road, Asheville, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at a local nursing home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Belle Ray Gaddy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hicks H. McKinney, who died in 1986; three sons, Edwin, Louis and Reece McKinney and a brother, Willie Gaddy. Mrs. McKinney is survived by seven sons, Clyde, Raymond, Everett, Phillip and Charles McKinney, all of Asheville, Bob McKinney of Brandon, FL and Rev. Allen McKinney of Marion; four sisters, Stella Webb and Mamie Holcombe of Leicester, Leona Allen of Barnardsville and Evon Watson of Asheville; two brothers, Roy and Eugene Gaddy of Detroit, MI; nineteen grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm Monday at Reeves Chapel Church Cemetery with the Reverend Allen McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. Memorials may be made to Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 225 Sardis Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
