Nellie H. Ricker

NELLIE H. RICKER Nellie Irene Hinyard Ricker, 93, formerly of Woodward Avenue, Asheville, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Mrs. Ricker was born in Columbus Co., NC, and was a daughter of the late James W. and Annie King Hinyard. She was married to Charles C. Ricker, Sr., who died in 1971. Mrs. Ricker was a graduate of Blanton's Business College and worked as a secretary for the Mt. Herman Masonic Temple for 26 years. She was former president of the Asheville Garden Club and was a member of the 20th Century Club, the Chatmore Club, the Order of Eastern Star, and Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Katherine Thompson and her husband, George, of Frisco, TX and Carolyn McKnight and her husband, Randy, of McDonough, GA; one son, Charles C. "Rick" Ricker, Jr., and his wife, Anne, of Charlotte; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services and interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801.
