Nina Tamiso O’Brien Quinlan, 88, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Mission Hospital.

Nina was born March 25, 1934, in Hartford, CT to the late Harry A. and Laura Tosi Tamiso. She was married to the late Joseph R. O’Brien, Sr., and to the late Denis E. Quinlan. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kelley O’Brien Jones, Nina was a graduate of Middlesex Community College, Middletown, CT, and devoted her career to nursing. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she served on many committees as well as being a lector and Eucharistic Minister.

Nina was a wonderful mother and dedicated her life to serving others. She loved and was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Her family includes a daughter, Janice O’Brien; sons, Keith O’Brien (Kathy) and Joseph R. O’Brien, Jr. (Julie), seven grandchildren, Renee Neuberger, Randy O’Brien, Patrick O’Brien, Jennifer O’Brien, Jeanne O’Brien, Shelby Jones and Rebecca Taveras; three great-grandchildren, and a brother Harry Tamiso (Rosemarie).

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 768 Asbury Road, Candler, NC 28715, to German Shepherd Rescue (https://www.gsdrescue.org/), or to WNCAP, 554 Fairview Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

    I am sorry for your loss, she was our parish mom, sister, as a member of the Catholic Daughters and we loved her very much, I was fortunate to know her and I will miss her tremendously. She is probably dancing in heaven with my father in law.

  13. Oh my dear heart Nina. Such a huge part of my life high school days Weaver-and Dua Decum and so looking forward to the 70th together. You made so many Holy Moments with so many people that the whole world has been affected. I will miss you my friend you deserve this rest and peace more than anyone I know. Luv u muchly.
