Asheville ~ Norman Lee Lewis, 73, of Asheville, died on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Stanley Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC. He was born in Buncombe County and was the son of the late Everett Lewis and Veaneer Williams Lewis. He was retired from CTS Manufacturing as superin-tendent , later he worked with his lifelong friend, Ralph Cannon at Asheville Packing. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Norman was actively involved in the Land of the Sky Shrine Club and was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Leta Jo Ramsey Lewis of Asheville; two daughters, Lisa Presley and husband Dennis of Arden and Cindy Lewis of St. Petersburg Beach, Fl; a son, Kenny Cowan and wife Ann of Candler; three grandchildren, Chad and Katie Presley and Caleb Cowan; a brother, Sanford Lewis and wife Alice of Arden. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Rev. Eddie Morgan and Rev. John Stanley officiating. Masonic Graveside Rites will follow in Green Hills Cemetery conducted by the Biltmore Lodge. The lodge will open at 1:30 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Land of the Sky Shrine Club, PO Box 24, Asheville, NC 28802.

  3. We were saddened to hear of Norman’s passing. He and my father, Bill Anders, were good friends and working colleagues at CTS. I fondly remember cutting beef at Norman’s father’s home and watching the guys play baseball.

  24. Norman Lewis–He was my GOOD,GOOD FRIEND, but more than that, he was my BUDDY. I know of no one person who has left a Bigger Void in the lives of so many people than the passing of this good man. He did so much for so many for so long.

    You know I always thought of your daddy as my 2nd daddy. He was a big ‘teddy bear’. I will cherish all the childhood memories of our two families together for the rest of my life.
